Garnet is the January birthstone, but this affordable gemstone is popular with people born in all months of the year. Sometimes people assume that all garnets are deep red, and it’s true that red variations of the gem are what see most often in jewelry. If you want to vary your garnet collection, you’ll be happy to know that it exists in other colors, too, such as oranges and shades of green. Those garnets are more scarce, so expect to pay a little more for them.
