Jewelry at the Sex and the City NYC Premiere
Metallic was the overall theme for several women at the Sex and the City NYC premiere, with three out of four of the film’s primary women stars choosing the look, along with co-star Jennifer Hudson. Cynthia Nixon opted for a softer appearance — less flash, but more romance. Jewelry ranged from subtle to dramatic, with Sarah Jessica Parker’s multiple gold necklaces definitely falling into the latter category.

This emerald pendant was said to have been an 80th birthday gift for the Chinese Emperor Qianlong in 1791, and by late 2007 its value was estimated at about $3.7 million dollars. The necklace is a good fit for May babies, since emerald is their birthstone. A fine emerald can be more expensive than a diamond of the same carat weight, but not all emeralds are valuable, and you can assume that the emeralds you find in most jewelry have been treated in some way to make them more attractive. It sure doesn’t hurt to learn some emerald basics before you go shopping.
